Conflict Management and Peace Building
Through its work on ADR Mechanism & Conflict Management Green Horizon provides services for
the setting up of mechanisms and strengthening of capability on the use of ADR to amicably settle
interpersonal and inter-communal disputes and manage conflicts. Green Horizon has exceptional
experience in this area having handled many projects in this respect supported by State
Governments and international organization like DFID, the British Council and the European Union,
in such places as Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States.
- Modernization of the Traditional Justice Systems in Dutse Emirate
- Capacity building of 1,350 traditional rulers in Jigawa State for Justice For All programme
- Instituted manual and electronic record keeping system for Traditional justice institutions
- Enhanced referral of disputes to and from the traditional institutions
- Green Horizon implemented a capacity building intervention by the EU funded MCN in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe where it trained 2,160 traditional rulers and scribes in law in 12 Emirates and Chiefdoms on mediation, human rights and conflict management
- GH implemented conflict management training for Traditional and community leaders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
- GH was supported by the Presidential Commission for the North East initiative to train traditional, community and religious leaders on conflict management and interfaith dialogue in all the 6 North East States
